Microsoft overpays former employees with severance and wants the money back!

In typical Microsoft epic fail fashion, Microsoft laid off a whole bunch of workers, paid them severance, and then figured out they were paid too much. Now, in a seemingly heartless move, they want the money back. Check out this link for the full scoop:

My personal opinion: The article (and others) don't mention how much was overpaid, although another article mentions that some workers were underpaid in their severance. In any case, Microsoft would have been wise to just write off the mistake and move on. Now, once again, they are dealing with a PR disaster. With a flub like this, who can forget such problems as the bug in Excel 2007 which couldn't handle calculations with numbers around 65,535:

The jokes are coming in full force and I'd be surprised if Microsoft doesn't cave and give in. It would be in their best interest to silence this one as quickly as possible.
